Blue Lotus flower (known in Latin as Nymphaea caerulea) is a psychoactive plant, also known as blue Egyptian lotus, blue water lily, and sacred blue lily.

It grows in Egypt and parts of Asia. It’s been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years as a natural aphrodisiac, sleep aid, and anxiety reliever. Historians believe it was once used in Egypt as a traditional medicine to treat an array of conditions and disorders like anxiety and insomnia.

The active ingredients in Blue Lotus are apomorphine and nuciferine. It’s known as an entheogenic drug, which is a mind-altering substance believed to alter one’s consciousness in a spiritual or religious manner. This term is often preferred by users to avoid the potentially negative associations with terms like 'psychedelic' or 'hallucinogen'.

It is best enjoyed by rolling with cannabis or making into a tea:

  • To smoke, add a small amount crushed dried flowers to a joint. This method leads to particularly pronounced psychoactive effects so go easy! For beginners, combine with a weaker strain of weed to avoid it become overbearing. Maybe give Critical Kush a miss here!

  • To make Blue Lotus tea, add approximately 3 grams of dried flowers to 300ml of hot water. Leave for around 10 minutes to allow for absorption, then drain the flowers and drink. For best results and to avoid residue, put the dried flowers in a tea bag.
  • If you wanna be one of the 'cool kids' and try something a little different, maybe Blue Lotus will be your jam? And as it's legal in many countries, what better excuse? Heck, it's better than smoking a banana...
